Artist Statement:

My work explores a lifelong curiosity with light, shadow, and color. It grew out of a background in photography, sculpture, wood working, and stained glass. The work explores the transition between one state of being and another. Inspiration is drawn from the interface between the natural and manmade world, politics, the human condition, and the Divine. Ideas come from diverse sources including music, mythology, and theology.

I combine glass, wood, wire and found objects to create works that have an ethereal quality that speaks to the fragility inherent in transitions. Stained glass is used to manipulate the quality and color of transmitted and reflected light. Wire allows the glass to move and float giving depth, blended color and motion. Wood species are specifically selected then milled into components for each piece. Found objects are incorporated as the piece requires. Though a sketch or drawing is done, my pieces are organic, with changes made as the piece develops.
