Artist Statement:

I am a graduate of NIU, DeKalb, IL  with an MA and MFA in drawing and painting.  After graduation I worked at NIU in the Burma Gallery and then The Art Center (TAC) for 10 years as Exhibition Coordinator, hanging the shows and being responsible for the annual Recycled Art Sale and annual Festival of Fine Craft.  During that time period I was a member of the ARC Gallery in Chicago, IL and exhibited extensively in the Midwest before moving to Louisville in 2014. Working primarily in collage for the last 10 years, I also taught collage classes at The Art Center, Highland Park, IL and Evanston Art Center in Evanston, IL.

I prefer to design the papers and use my own photos for my collages in order to create a more personal, one of a kind, expression.  It’s a fun filled, process oriented approach, which always inspires the artwork which follows. Working both abstractly and representationally I am moved by nature and often use objects from nature in my work.  When painting, small collages are my sketches for larger still life paintings in oil.
